Play set up

Play set up means placing slot receiver on each side and Running Back lined up right behind Quarterback.

QB Read

No requirement of reading, its just a running play it is!

  1. Running back- Dive
  2. Left slot- Running behind QB
  3. Right Slot- Running behind QB

This is nothing but a short running play. However, you can implement routes and turns it into a passing play. I want to restrict this game to 8 and under. At the same time, I have seen more senior teams effectively run this as well. It relies on your team’s strength to run it through the third option.

The first option defines passing the ball to the running back on the dive. This easy handoff can be remarkably successful, at younger ages like 8 and under. Most of the football teams support running plays that meant to finish toward one of the side-lines.

For this reason, coaches could set up their defences to protect the side-lines that open up the centre. I wouldn’t refer to start the match by running up the centre. Once it opened, I would not wait too long to utilize this to get the best result.

If the QB falsifies the initial handoff, there another option you can get. The next option would be the Slot Receivers that runs and supports from the back position of the QB for a handoff. This could make good sense to allow the Slot Receiver in the beginning, on the side. Otherwise, you can go for the second option, the Running Back.

There is a valid reason for this game change. It makes it possible for the QB to have a swift flow to open up a little for the first selection and then a little more for the second option. It is one of the essential balanced slot info that will help the kids know the QB position properly.

The final option would be passing the ball to the other receiver again, who is running behind the QB. But there is one difficulty with this formation. You would require more time to acquire the third option. You wouldn’t have options if the defence attacks. Often, initially, the receivers’ timing would trigger some difficulties as the third possibility will begin too quickly and run into some other receiver.

Play Variation:

It is the best formation to learn the passing play and run a route following the fakes. Easily, you can pass the ball to the final option to give it to the other receiver instead of running as handoff kills the QB time clock. Even, like Blue, Green, Red, you can only change up the order as well.
