YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL PRE-SEASON CHECKLIST

Pre-season periods are mostly used by coaches to engage their players into thorough drillings ahead of the upcoming season and most times the coaches are left with no other option than to have a checklist guiding them so as to bring along with them necessary equipment’s that will give or yield maximum result and performance to the entire teams. Below are some relevant tools needed for a pre-season football team:

Inventory Book : As an old coach, check out whether there is a need to add any other equipment not found in the inventory book during the course of the season whereas, as a new coach, you don’t need rely on the old list prepared by the previous coach. There is need to develop yours after checking through the previous inventory book. The inventory book should be able to house the following:

  • Uniforms: both the upper and lower uniforms should be enough as well as torn jerseys are to be fixed or replaced. Also making sure shirts used during training are available too
  • Practice shoes: ordering of new shoes, fitted and to the taste of the player.
  • Coaching gears: the coach’s T-shirt, shoe and game day shirts.
  • Knee and Thigh pads: as a protective measure worn during trainings
  • Ankle braces: as a general protective measure. Also given to those who within a month’s time had an injury prior to the commencement of the pre-season.
  • Footballs and air pump: adequate provision of the required number of balls with them being of equal size to the ones used during the real time season matches.
  • Ball and travel bags: adequate provision of bags and carts though sometime is subject to the budget at hand.
  • Whistles: numerous whistles because they are easily misplaced
  • Video cameras: to capture some scenes during the training
  • Whiteboard /markers: this helps to illustrate the game plan and to communicate very well to your players.
  • First aid kit: have a check on the first aid kit to know what and what is still available and what is in shortage. Replace any aid that is in short quantity especially bug sprays, bandages, and methylated spirits because of their indispensable role they play during any form of casualty sustained by the players in course of the pre-season matches and trainings.
  • Water can and filters: thorough checking of the water cans and filters so as to eliminate any form of virus or bacteria. This is a good hygiene maintenance approach that helps to curb any form of water borne disease. Also, because of the intense trainings, one needs to be hydrated thus, the need of adequate water cans or bottles.
  • Cones: these space markers should be made available at all cost.
  • Hurdles: this is used to train for speed.
  • Ball carriers: how else will one carry his or her ball if not with the use of a ball carrier? Its availability settles this.

Ordering of the equipment’s: final re-checking of the list should be done before placing an order for them. Vital information’s such as the date and time the order was made, phone number, and the representative’s name and number should be captured as well. When the equipment’s arrive, do well to confirm that what was delivered tallies with the order placed.
